Upgrade of Clinical System
As part of a Department of Health national programme, the Practice will be undertaking a major clinical software system upgrade on the 10 May 2012. As a result of this we will be unable to offer a full service on the afternoon of Wednesday 9 May and on the morning of Thursday 10 May 2012 in order that we can conduct the transfer as smoothly and as quickly as possible. It is our intention to keep disruption to an absolute minimum however we ask that you note the following:
Wednesday 9 May 2012
(AM) – Surgeries as normal
(PM) - Routine Surgeries will stop at 4.00pm. However, we will maintain a minor illness service for acute/immediately necessary treatments. We respectfully request that patients consider the need to be seen urgently between 4.00pm and 6.30pm on this afternoon.
Thursday 10 May 2012
(AM) – No routine surgeries until 11.00am. However we will maintain a minor illness service for acute/immediately necessary treatments. We respectfully request that patients consider the need to be seen urgently between 8:30am and 11.00am on this morning. From 11.00am for the remainder of the morning, we aim to offer normal routine bookable appointments. However our capacity will be reduced as appointments will be booked at 15 minutes intervals. This is to prevent delays while staff become familiar with the new software.
(PM) – Normal routine surgeries. However please note that again appointments will be booked at 15 minute intervals.
Availability of Appointments:
Under normal circumstances we offer appointments up to six weeks in advance. Unfortunately as part of the system upgrade we will need to reduce this time period until the new system has been installed on the 10 May 2012. As a consequence, we are only able to put new appointments onto our system (post 10 May 2012) for a three week period taking us up to and including the 31 May 2012. It is our intention to extend this period to offer our normal range of appointments (six weeks in advance) as soon as possible after the 10 May 2012. Consequently, if you require a routine appointment on or after the 31 May 2012 during our transition period, you may be asked to call back after the 11 May 2012.
We would like to thank all our patients for their understanding and support while we undertake this major system upgrade. Thank you!
New Dispensing Service
12 September 2011
In September 2011 we launched our latest service for those dispensing patients who are on multiple medications. For the first time we are able to offer the facility to put the medication into weekly blister packs. These packs will be delivered to patients homes once a week using our new delivery service.
We are offering this service to all dispensing patients who are on three or more types of tablets daily.
Please note that not all medication is suitable for the blister pack service.
Repeat prescriptions
The Electronic Transfer of Prescriptions (ETPS) phase 2 is due to roll out soon. This will enable doctors to send prescriptions electronically to pharmacists and may well improve the repeat prescribing services. Patients may be asked by pharmacists to sign up to this service. If you do it is important to undertsand the implications. You will be allowed to nominate up to three pharmacies from where you can receive prescriptions. The list will NOT include our GP dispensing services as Dispensing doctors have been EXCLUDED from the service. Once you have signed up YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE YOUR PHARMACY CHOICES without making an application to the PCT which will only be considered under exceptional circumstances.
If you currently use our dispensary DO NOT SIGN UP unless you are sure you never wish to use our dispensary services again as you will not be allowed to change your mind later. We will happily provide services to all eligible patients but this is a one way ticket.Onsite Services

Practice Premises
The original house was extended to provide extensive and modern medical treatment areas. The old part of the house is used exclusively by the administrative and clerical staff and also provides office accommodation for the District Nurses and Health Visitors attached to the Practice. Our extension is single storey therefore there are no stairs or lifts and we are able to offer easy and wide access for the elderly and disabled patients and to parents using pushchairs and prams. The new extension also boasts a large waiting room with plenty of seating for patients and a separate children's play area.
There is also a purpose built toilet for the disabled and baby changing facilities. We have seven well equipped consulting rooms and a suite of treatment rooms which include a general nurses treatment room, a phlebotomist's room and a minor operations' room. The Practice Dispensary is located centrally in the patient area. Our dispensary waiting room is opposite to allow patients to wait in comfort whilst their medication is dispensed. - . The Alistair Suite (named after our founder) is at the end of the doctors' corridor and is used by Physiotherapists and the Health Visitors for baby clinics.
Car parking
There are two car parks at the Surgery. One is exclusively for doctors and staff use. Our patient car park has three disabled bays and patients are usually able to park with ease.
