Dr Colin Burr MB ChB (Leicester 1983), MRCGP, DRCOG

My training was at Leicester University Medical School, which included an attachment in General Practice in..... Bourne!
I qualified in 1983 and, following my postgraduate GP training at Peterborough, I returned to Bourne to join the Galletly Practice as a Partner in 1987.
I am married with a grown-up daughter and son. I enjoy skiing, cycling, windsurfing and golf.
My medical interests are Hypertension, Diabetes and Child Health.


I was born and brought up in South Wales until I went to University in Leicester where I qualified as a Doctor in 1987. I worked in the hospitals in Leicester for three years before completing my training as a GP in Oakham, Rutland in 1992. I joined the Galletly practice as a part-time Partner in 1995.
I grew up in Norfolk and qualified as a Doctor from Leicester University Medical School in 1981. I did my vocational training for General Practice in Leicester and I have been with the practice since 1995.
I grew up in Malta and qualified as a Doctor at Birmingham University in 1985. I did my vocational training in the Royal Air Force and worked in a number of RAF locations in the UK and abroad before joining the Galletly Practice in 1993.
I’m originally from Southend on Sea in Essex. I read Medicine at Sheffield University and qualified in 2002. I worked as a Junior Doctor in Sheffield before joining the Barnsley GP Training Scheme in 2004. I joined the Galletly Practice in 2006 and we moved down from Yorkshire.
I’m originally from Yorkshire and although I had a short spell with another Practice in Lincolnshire before my arrival at the Practice in March 2008, my background is one of business management, HR and finance. Before entering the world of General Practice I was a Director with a national top 100 retail company.
